Too Funny to Pass Up

It is amazing something like this can get on the air on Fox News Channel without someone in his production staff meetings saying, "Gee, Glenn. For some reason it just doesn't look right. Are we sure we spelled it right?" Beck looked right the word several times. He spelled it out. The way he spelled it wouldn't have even made the right sound. Leave the "H" out instead, and you would have been much better off!

In my very first journalism class, we were warned "in the real world" we could be fired for misspelling a name. What about a common and easily spelled word? I'm not suggesting Beck be fired for this (frankly, the sheer embarrassment of the gaffe is probably enough), but it just amazes me a guy (along with the handful of people working on his show) who sure seems to think he's very smart could make that kind of an error.

  1. You're missing the point, Scott. Glenn Beck didn't misspell that word. Those organizations chose their names for a reason--THEY misspelled the word. I thought it was big of Glenn not to point out their spelling error.

  2. I remember watching this clip and thinking, Huh, people actually watch this and enjoy it? All this time I thought reality TV was the worst thing on the air. It's not.

  3. Of course you would say that, Joe. You've always been one of the oligarhs.

  4. Obama probably sold the letter "C," so he could pay for his Canadian, Marxist health care plan. Who's with me?!

  6. I was told the next day he said C was for Czars. I'm surprised he didn't think it stood for Kitties.

  7. I heard the same thing, but what surprises me is that people actually believe that. Isn't that a "joke" you should possibly set up better? That way no one would be able to say anything about this quote:

    "O-L-I-G-A-R-H-Y. Oligarchy."

  8. Honestly, I think that he may have unintentionally made a genius move by misspelling the word. It fits in with what seems to be the m.o. of the extreme right wing. No one sees you coming if everyone is laughing at you. If he had spelled the word right, we might have confronted his ignorant message. His followers couldn't care less if he misspells a word. In fact, pointing it out just plays into his hands--more bashing of the "ivory tower liberals." To be fair, we probably wouldn't care too much if someone we agreed with publicly misspelled a word--although it does always seems to be right wing characters making errors that speak to a lack of basic eduction, doesn't it?

  9. Right on, RG. Total lack of eduction.
